A non-invasive ultrasound scan to assess structure and function of the heart, looking at the heart structure and function.
An echocardiogram is a comprehensive, non-invasive ultrasound scan that lets us take a detailed look at how your heart and valves are working. It's one of the most effective ways to investigate symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness or palpitations — giving you clear answers and peace of mind without long waiting lists.
At Heart Health Hub, you'll be cared for by an NHS-trained clinical scientist with over 13 years' experience in cardiology. Our aim is to make the process relaxed, reassuring, and centred around you—while delivering fast, accurate results you can trust.
During your appointment, we'll place an ultrasound probe around your chest to capture moving images of your heart. You will be asked to turn slightly onto your left hand side so we can see the heart from different angles, moving the lungs out of view. The scan is completely safe — no needles, no injections, and no radiation — and the appointment usually takes between 30–45 minutes. Results need to be analysed and normalised to your own height and weight before a report is generated.
There's nothing special you need to do beforehand. You can eat, drink and take your usual medications as normal.
You will be asked to remove all top items of clothing as the scan requires a bare chest, and lay on your left hand side in a darkened room. A dignity cover or gown will be provided.
Any urgent findings are discussed and referrals can be made to our partner cardiologist — otherwise, your technical report will be sent back to your GP for their records and a copy will be sent to any referring doctors.
At Heart Health Hub, our mission is simple — to provide accessible, expert and compassionate heart care without the long delays of overstretched public services.
Whether you’re seeking a simple check-up, investigating symptoms or need structured rehab, our full range of non-invasive heart services is here for you.
